For Abstrax co-founder Kevin Koby, his biggest milestone was being named CEO in September 2024.
“I get to lead the 185 amazing people we have at this company,” he says.
But from an outside perspective, there’s a host of other accolades that are impressive, including Fast Company’s Best Workplaces for Innovators list in 2024 and being named on the Inc. 5000 in 2024 and 2025, with 282% revenue growth in the past three years.
Koby also graced the cover of Forbes and was appointed to the Fast Company Impact Council in 2025.
Although Abstrax primarily targets the cannabis industry, Koby says a huge portion of the company’s growth in the past two years stems from the adult beverage industry.
“Brewing is what we’re most excited about when we’re talking about growth,” he says. “That growth is more than doubling year-over-year and it’s a less volatile industry.”
The rise in hard iced teas and seltzers has contributed to this growth, and it’s forcing traditional brewers to start innovating beyond beer to create new flavors and experiences.
“People are drinking less beer, so they’ve got to utilize that infrastructure to make beverages people want and care about,” Koby says. “We’re perfectly positioned for that, and we’re killing it.”
Koby credits a chance encounter with Lagunitas head brewer Jeremy Marshall, who “pulled (Abstrax) by the collar into the brewing industry.” It took the company nearly five years of R&D before it gained traction with brewers.
“It could be serendipity, it could be luck, and it could be that we just love beer and weed,” Koby says.
