When Kait LeDonne decided to partner up with her cousin Gina Dubbe and Dr. Leslie Apgar to build the Maryland medical dispensary Greenhouse Wellness two years ago, the three women realized they had a big niche to fill.
At the time, there weren’t any other women-owned dispensaries around, nor were there any products specifically designed for women in their market. So along with tailoring the dispensary to meet women’s needs, they also founded a product company specifically with women in mind called Blissiva.
“We would see women come into the dispensary suffering from breast cancer, endometriosis, heightened pain because of our cycles — there’s a whole host of things we have to deal with,” LeDonne says. “So we started off by creating the Blissiva Balance Pen for women to alleviate anxiety, and they sold out almost immediately.”
The Balance Pen has been so popular the company is now partnering with iAnthus Capital to license the blend and sell it in recreational and medical states across the country.
Next up, the company hopes to create a line of products aimed at heightening sexual experiences and alleviating pain associated with menstrual cramps.
“I was amazed at how many CB1 and CB2 receptors are in the uterus,” LeDonne says. “It’s like a hot-bed, literally and figuratively. Women are stepping up and feeling empowered about their biology, and we want to help them.”
