Roots Sustainable Agricultural Technologies recently developed a patent-protected heat exchange stub to control pot, grow bag and soil temperatures.
Designed to be inserted into the tops of pots and grow bags, the stub simplifies and lowers the installation costs of Roots’ Root Zone Temperature Optimisation technology. The stub enables the mobility of pots and grow bags during the growing cycle, while chains of stubs with insulated pipes in between can be used for row installations.
During a pilot program at Roots’ research hub in Israel, the stub effectively maintained optimal soil temperatures in pots, despite extreme air temperatures of over 104 degrees Fahrenheit.
“Roots’ proprietary stub enables producers to stabilize pot and grow bag soil temperatures year-round, increases pot maneuverability as well as significantly reduce costs associated with RZTO installation,” CEO Sharon Devir said in a press release.
