These days, Sequoia Price-Lazarus focuses on making the highest quality CBD products he can and offering them at a price that makes their benefits accessible to anyone who needs it.
But it wasn’t always that way. The Lazarus Naturals CEO first got into the industry making THC distillate for Washington’s medical market, one of the first in the state to produce and sell the product.
But as someone whose own interest in the intoxicating effects of THC began to wane, his spark for the business did too.
“I’d really lost the passion for making THC products,” he says.
And when state law combined the medical and recreational industries into a single, regulated industry, it sealed the deal for his move into a fully medical-focused CBD product.
“I was too young to apply for an I-502 permit, even though I was operating a medical marijuana business,” he says.
But as he learned more about CBD and what it could do, Price-Lazarus saw an opportunity to create a product for people who wanted the benefits without the intoxication. On top of that, there was less red tape for a CBD business, which had the ability to scale across state lines. Today, Lazarus Naturals products are available in 1,200 retail locations and nationwide online.
He noticed the prices of CBD products seemed high and thought he could not only make a product that could help people, but do so more affordably than those he saw on the market. The company’s Lazarus Assistance Program also helps ensure people who need the products can get them.
“We’re trying to make our products really affordable to those who couldn’t afford it,” he says. “That’s something I really care about.”
