10. Ohio legalizes cannabis, but Republican lawmakers plan legislative changes
On November 7, 2023, Ohio became the 24th state to legalize recreational cannabis, but despite the approval of 57% of voters, Republican lawmakers immediately got busy trying to undo the will of the voters. Multiple plans have been proposed by GOP-controlled Legislature including one supported by Governor Mike DeWine that redirects cannabis tax revenue toward law-enforcement training.
