At least three cannabis-related companies were included in the 2024 Inc. Regionals, a ranking of the fastest growing privately held businesses in the United States.
Cannatrol was the fastest growing company and the highest ranked company with ties to the marijuana industry, with a two-year growth rate of 530% to rank 29th in the Northeast region. The Vermont-based company manufactures systems to help cannabis growers of all sizes dial in the perfect cure.
“The drying, curing and storage process has always been a bit of a guessing game,” CEO Jane Sandelman told Marijuana Venture for the magazine’s July 2023 cover story. “Now you’ve got a precision tool to control the final outcome. You’ve got consistency, you’ve got repeatability, you’ve got reliability — all of those things that you’ve never had in post-harvest before.”
The 1,132 companies that were featured in the Inc. Regionals accounted for 96,129 jobs to the U.S. economy in 2022 and generated $75.9 billion in total revenue.
Würk, the Colorado-based company that provides a bevy of HR and compliance solutions for cannabis companies, ranked No. 49 in the Rocky Mountain region with a 98% growth rate.
Würk has been recognized multiple times for its ongoing rapid growth, three times reaching the illustrious Inc. 5000 (No. 73 in 2020; No. 1,422 in 2022; and No. 2,179 in 2023).
With a two-year growth rate of 60%, Phresh Picks clocked in at No. 152 in the Southwest region. Phresh Picks is a New Mexico-based distribution company that focuses on cannabis and tobacco smoking products and devices.
According to Inc., companies are ranked according to percentage revenue growth from 2020 to 2022. Among other rules, companies must have been founded and generating revenue by March 31, 2020, and they must be privately owned, U.S.-based, for-profit enterprises, with a minimum of $100,000 revenue for 2020 and $1 million revenue for 2022.
