Early flowering is a crucial time in a plant’s life as it is acclimatizing to its new environmental conditions (light spectrum, photoperiod, feed, water intervals, etc.). Be sure and keep careful observations now because it is easier to move a plant of concern before the trellising is put in place.
This is also a good opportunity to scout for insect activity, prune any unwanted plant material and otherwise check your crop health, all while they are still semi-movable.
Remember to consider how you will harvest as you “plant out” or place your plants in your flower room. Longer flowering, more familiar plants will be good candidates for back-of-room placement, while quicker flowering, trial plants should be left in the front.
This time can also be utilized to access any systems issues or preventative maintenance of equipment. Predictable equipment operation is of the utmost importance, because without, it is nearly impossible to properly quantify a control response or follow a standard operating procedure. Time is highly valuable. Especially in an indoor grow environment, the more efficient one can be at each step will ultimately translate to increased yield and healthier plants.
At Adakai, we tend to follow the adage: “Take care of your equipment and it will take care of you.”
