Cynthia Brewer
Age: 36
Company: Kaycha Labs
Title: Executive vice president
Cynthia Brewer will be the first one to admit that she loves to talk.
The affable and driven executive vice president of Kaycha Labs believes her gift of gab and advocacy for patient access were chief contributors to her becoming the first person hired by the company’s founders.
Kaycha Labs CEO James Horvath and president Chris Martinez heard her talk at an event, and “I think they knew I was going to be relentless getting clients and ensuring patient safety,” she says.
Not only could she talk persuasively about cannabis, “but I could put a heartbeat to it.”
Brewer was instrumental in growing the small, startup laboratory, founded in 2017, into the largest multi-state cannabis lab in the world, with approximately 200 employees and operations in Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Massachusetts, Nevada, New York, Oregon and Tennessee.
She is also a host of the weekly Marijuana Mind podcast, where she and co-host Dr. Justin Davis sit down for candid discussions about cannabis.
While she took on many roles for Kaycha Labs during its earliest years, Brewer says her biggest success was securing the company’s first license, in Florida, one of the most impenetrable cannabis markets in the U.S.
“To me, getting Florida’s license was the catalyst and the instigator to all of my success and our success as a company,” Brewer says. “There were sweat, blood and tears inside that license … but every license after that was a cakewalk.”
