Extraction Extravaganza
A deep look at the extracts and concentrates sector of the cannabis industry
Growing in popularity and market share, live resins are extracts made from plants that are flash-frozen at harvest — before drying or curing. Full Spec creates its extracts from single-source, sun-grown cannabis that is extracted at low temperatures, all to preserve the terpenes and cannabinoids that give a specific strain of cannabis its characteristics.
“The end result is that when you have a cartridge or a dab of Blue Dream or Nine Pound Hammer, it’s going to give you the experience of really well-grown Blue Dream or Nine Pound Hammer in a cartridge or dab format,” Naramore says.
According to Naramore, the company’s “authentic” live resin products, including cartridges, badder and sugar, are all made without the addition of any added terpenes, giving the product a natural taste of the flower, unlike the “imitation crab” flavor when strains are recreated using distillates and botanical terpenes.
The company also prides itself on its wide range of genetics, all sourced for their terpene production, and is constantly experimenting at its facility in Wenatchee, Washington, to find new strains suited for top-quality live resin products.
According to Naramore, Full Spec has become the top-selling brand of the Edgemont group and is one of the top five concentrate brands in Washington, outselling the company’s main concentrate brand, Leafwerx, by seven times. Naramore says Full Spec is looking to build on that success by taking its single-sourced, fresh-frozen extracts to other states and markets, with the same focus on recreating the flower experience.
“We’re growers at heart,” he says. “We grow in-house to create live resin. That is kind of our secret sauce.”
