From the epitome of luxury jewelry to neon axe-throwing nightlife to cannabis, Sequoah Turner is versed in the many, many forms of retail experiences. Her resume includes seven years as a regional manager for Tiffany & Co. before becoming the director of retail for the Las Vegas entertainment complex AREA15.
Turner, who received her bachelor’s degree in history from Davidson College and an MBA from American InterContinental University, got her first experience in cannabis at Essence in Las Vegas, followed by a stint at Agri-Genesis in Missouri.
Now Turner is bringing her 15 years of retail management experience to take over as the new director of retail for the Nevada-based cannabis retailer The Source.
“I knew the competitive landscape and the important reputation of The Source,” Turner says. “It is becoming rare to be with a store that really thinks about the employee and their quality of life and that’s really why I wanted to join the team.”
Turner will now oversee more than 160 employees working at the company’s five cannabis retail shops in Las Vegas, Reno and Northampton, Massachusetts. She aims to not only further the company’s overall growth strategy but also plans to foster its internal corporate culture.
“We’re really proud of what we’re doing and that is to really think, in terms of organizational culture, are we best positioned as the best employer in town?” Turner says.
