Traci Black seems incapable of doing anything in half measures. It’s a character trait that follows her, whether she’s at the office or exploring the outdoors on a camping trip.
“When I say ‘camping,’ I don’t mean glamping,” Black says. “I mean hiking with a backpack that holds everything including the rollup I sleep on. I’m definitely an Oregon girl and not the kind that is in anyway afraid of getting my hands dirty.”
Black is the vice president of operations at Dizpot and a key reason the Arizona-based company landed on the Inc. 5000 list in 2022. Dizpot increased its revenue by 319% during the past three years by adding a logistics division and expanding its services, which now include branding, packaging, marketing and logistics.
“I have roles now being filled that weren’t even thought of when I came in, because they weren’t necessary,” Black says. “I have really had to step up my game.”
The company grew from seven employees to its current roster of 35, adding new departments and responsibilities for Black. And as someone who freely admits to “being something of a perfectionist,” she quickly found herself a victim of her own success.
“One morning I came in and my Outlook tells me, ‘Congratulations, you’re down from 38 hours to 36 hours in meetings this week,’” Black says with a laugh. “So there were some concerns that they were going to burn me out — but I don’t know if that would have happened.”
