Tyneeha Rivers is bringing two decades of experience in human resources to Curaleaf, a multi-state operator with facilities in 22 states and more than 5,700 employees. As Curaleaf’s recently appointed chief people officer, Rivers will oversee human resources and company culture and be a strategic advisor to CEO Matt Darin.
“During these first 100 days, I just want to get in the trenches and learn our business, learn our people and learn our culture,” Rivers says.
Rivers has worked for prominent companies such as Merrill Lynch, Morgan Properties, the Philadelphia 76ers and, most recently, Curio Wellness.
“It was a great opportunity to work for all those companies, because at each company I learned something different,” Rivers says. “I learned something more about the industry and HR that is going to help me take little nuggets of information that will help me at my current organization.”
Rivers has received critical acclaim for her work in building healthy, engaging corporate cultures, including three consecutive Best Place to Work awards from the Philadelphia Business Journal, and a Best Culture in America award by Entrepreneur Magazine. Among her first goals at Curaleaf is to show the company’s thousands of employees “that they don’t just have a job in cannabis, they have a career.”
“We believe in a healthy, inclusive, well-regulated cannabis industry that provides more social, financial and environmental benefits shared by all,” Rivers says. “And for me personally, I just believe in the power of the plant. It can heal, and it helps.”
