You know the old saying βstart as you mean to finishβ? It applies to business too.
Cannabis is a relatively new industry and businesses within it have an opportunity, unlike legacy industries, to get it right from the beginning. That includes creating as small an ecological footprint on the planet as possible.
All agricultural production is at the center of discussions around sustainability. As marijuana becomes a more mainstream product, there is also interest from many consumers in how the products they are consuming are produced β both in terms of individual impact, with organic growing, and overall environmental sustainability.
For our part, Honest Marijuana Company has always held the credo that we want to produce the cleanest cannabis experience we can, with as little impact to the environment as possible.
Our plants are air-dried and the resulting gases are recycled to minimize our impact on the atmosphere and ozone layer.
We use light sources that mimic natural light, but at the same time draw 30% less power than standard fixtures. One of our plans is to look at leveraging solar power. Our HVAC system controls the climate through a water chilled system that also uses 30% less power.
We reduce water use through conservative irrigation, and we clean the resulting wastewater with a high-sediment filtration system, therefore minimizing the impact to local watersheds.
We also recycle our depleted soil, which benefits a local landscape company that uses it in their various design projects.
We only work with organic soil and USDA-approved organic fertilizers, to minimize the impact on the environment. These are the same approved products that are used for meeting federal level food standards.
Even our packaging is recyclable, leveraging food grade canning processes.
Starting as we mean to finish, the way forward will always be a clean, sustainable cultivation process that we can proudly stand behind.
