More than 20 years after appearing in the pothead comedy How High, Method Man is helping build one of the fastest growing cannabis brands in North America; TICAL Official is now available in 11 states, including the company’s home market, New York, and, most recently, launching in New Mexico.
“For two decades, New Mexico has shown a lot of love to Meth and the family, and we appreciate that,” TICAL co-founder Nathaniel “Nutta” Vereen said in a press release. “As we continue to grow across the U.S., it’s incredibly meaningful to finally land in New Mexico as well.”
Method Man is most well-known for his role as a member of the hip-hop supergroup Wu-Tang Clan, but he’s been a prolific rapper and actor for more than two decades, with roles in such films as Cop Land, Garden State, Venom and Red Tails, as well as playing “Cheese” in the hit HBO series “The Wire.”
His first solo album, Tical, coined the phrase that is now the namesake for his cannabis company. TICAL stands for “taking into consideration all lives” — a sentiment that resonated with some industry partners.
“As a family-owned and proud minority-owned business, we find it refreshing that TICAL, an industry giant, has chosen to join forces with a local privately-held economic empowerment license holder,” said Jeff Similien, CEO and owner of the Boston-based LowKey Dispensary. “Our shared vision of delivering top-notch products to the people, uniting music, art, cannabis and community as a way of life aligns with TICAL’s mantra ‘taking into consideration all lives.’ We look forward to growing our brands together, supporting one another, and leveling up into the future.”
