Recreational cannabis sales saw a significant boost thanks to holiday shoppers looking to take the edge off their Thanksgiving holiday
Recreational cannabis retailers saw a boost in sales in late November, with Green Wednesday β the day before Thanksgiving β bringing in nearly double the revenue of a normal Wednesday, according to one tech provider.

However, the medical side of the industry saw a little less green on Green Wednesday, with about $8.2 million in sales through Jane Technologies, an 11.1% decrease from 2022 β bringing the combined medical and recreational sales total to $17.4 million, according to the tech provider.
Overall, the cannabis wholesale platform Leaf Trade reported a 17.17% increase in cannabis orders on November 5, two weeks before Green Wednesday, as retailers stocked up on products in anticipation for the holiday rush. According to Leaf Trade, during the two weeks leading up to Green Wednesday, pre-roll sales increased by 32.2%, gummy sales increased by 21.3%, cartridges sales increased by 29.9% and beverage sales increased by 25.2%.
According to a press release, StateHouse Holdings, which owns the Urbn Leaf and Harborside dispensaries, saw a 21% increase in web traffic and a 16% increase in online revenue, which the company attributes to a 29.2% increase in online order volume and a 169% increase in new online customers.
Curaleaf, the largest cannabis retailer in the United States, saw a 90% increase in sales, a 106% increase in units sold and a 68% increase in transactions compared to an average Wednesday.
