40 Under 40
For the past five years, the Marijuana Venture staff has compiled an annual list of some of the brightest young leaders and influencers in the cannabis industry. As in past years, we have narrowed the list from hundreds of worthy candidates to present 40 individuals from the vast and ever-changing business in the United States and Canada.
It is our honor to share their stories.
Shanel Lindsay
Age: 38
Company: Ardent Cannabis
Title: Founder and President
Shanel Lindsay has already proven her company, Ardent Cannabis, to be force in the B2C market, with its wildly successful NOVA decarboxylator. Since its 2016 launch, Ardent Cannabis has generated more than $7 million in sales, growing annual revenue from $350,000 in year one to $3.3 million in 2019.
But 2020 is expected to be a pivotal year for the Massachusetts-based company, not only with the introduction of the new, larger FX, but also with Ardent’s entry into the B2B side with the Indy commercial decarboxylator.
As the heir apparent to the original NOVA, the FX is an all-in-one decarboxylation, infusion, melting and baking appliance that can handle up to four ounces of cannabis at a time.
“I think we’re one of the interesting companies that wants to empower people to be able to make products at home,” Lindsay says. “That puts us in a different position than a dispensary or a producer.”
Having cornered the market on decarboxylators, Ardent is setting its sights on mainstream consumers.
“We’ve transformed into this leading cannabis company that is really capable of impacting the broader health and wellness category,” Lindsay says. “That’s what we’re looking forward to in 2020.”
