Two of the biggest names in music and cannabis are teaming up this weekend for the official launch of Snoop Dogg’s Death Row Cannabis in three of Berner’s Cookies stores in California.
Death Row Cannabis, the cannabis brand from the legendary Los Angeles record label, recently acquired and relaunched by Snoop Dogg, is releasing curated, “high-wattage” strains including, for the first time ever, Strawberry Gary, along with beloved strains like SFV OG, Trop Cherry and LA Runtz.
Death Row Cannabis will be curated by AK, a longtime West Coast legacy cultivator and industry insider, best known for his role, alongside former partner WizardTrees, in development of the RS11, Studio 54 and Shirazi strains from exotic cannabis breeder DEO. According to a press release, AK is the man behind SMKRS and is the vice president of cultivation for TRP LLC, which owns a majority of the Cookies stores across the nation, including their facilities in Florida.
The first Death Row Cannabis drop will debut in limited edition, commemorative metallic bags, featuring the label’s iconic hooded prisoner figure seated in an electric chair on the front. However, the company notes this is a brand-new version of the prisoner, specifically designed for the launch of the cannabis brand — the main difference being he has one hand broken free and is smoking a joint.
Known for producing chart-topping classic albums by artists like Snoop Dogg, Dr. Dre and Tupac Shakur, the company’s acquisition by Snoop Dogg has led to a re-emergence for Death Row as a multi-category cultural platform across music, fashion, entertainment and now cannabis.
The new brand will make its debut at the Cookies stores in Brentwood, San Bernardino and La Mesa stores at 9 a.m. on January 7, 2023.
