After plant material is loaded into the cylindrical chamber, the SPExtR uses pressure and energy to separate the most volatile, lighter molecular weight portion (terpenes, water, etc.) and the less volatile portion (cannabinoids) from the plant matter to be collected separately.
The small, easy-to-move piece of equipment is made primarily from stainless steel and a small amount of glass — meaning there is no gear pump maintenance. In addition, the SPExtR also decarboxylates the extracts so the terpenes and cannabinoids are immediately available upon consumption.
