“Is there alcohol in it?”
Nope, Güd Tymz consists of cannabis, water and gelatin.
Güd Tymz
In their second year of manufacturing, Güd Tymz has brought novelty and fun to the Colorado edibles market. As a science company with a proprietary fast-acting formulation, their introduction of unique recreational edible products — gelatin shots and most recently, java shots — has shaken up consumer interests. Each with a 10-mg dose, Güd Tymz cannabis infused shots are sold as individual units or 100-mg 10-packs. The party packs are the most popular among consumers. Co-owners Mike “Vish” Visher and Dr. Audrey “Doc” Shor attribute this to the fact that no one shows up to a party with a bag of gummies; however, showing up to the fun with a pack of jello shots that kick in quickly and don’t last all day brings the party to a higher level. Vish says, “Our goal was to target more of a happy hour or tailgating mentality. We want to bring FUN back to cannabis.”
Cannabis consumers can join the festivities with spontaneity, without having to plan out their high, or the potential of a hangover the next day. Further, with the adoption of cannabis consumption lounges opening doors across the country, Güd Tymz shots are a perfect fit for cannabis consumers looking for quick onset and consistent duration.
Güd Tymz launched in the summer 2021, hit a few hurdles while scaling up, including having their science equipment ransomed during delivery. Subsequently, they have placed their efforts into building brand recognition and trust. Consumer education has introduced a few bumps along the way. Many cannabis connoisseurs are in the habit of eating gummies and chocolates, neither of which need to be refrigerated. According to Doc, “No one likes a warm jello shot! While Güd Tymz are room temperature stable, they need to be refrigerated before consuming! Otherwise, yeah, eating warm, soft gelatin isn’t such a pleasant experience.”
“Another hurdle quickly realized and overcome was our packaging,” says Vish. “Retailers are very conscientious of a product’s footprint. We were less mindful of this during our original packaging design. However, we listened to our budtender friends and completely redesigned our packaging to meet dispensary needs.”
“Aside from our launch, gaining industry recognition by cleaning up with a handful of awards was the most amazing milestone of our first year!” adds Doc. “Winning the Wildcard category at Rooster Magazine’s THC Classic in 2021 for our original gelatin flavor (orange) was surreal! I still get an excited shiver when I remember our brand being called out for first place!”
That’s not the only award recognition this startup gained last year. Reinforcing their endless efforts, Güd Tymz earned industry recognition with the THC Classic Top Choice for their beta coffee additives in the beverage category, Best Unique Edible at the THC Championship 2021, again for the orange jello shot, and most recently their latest product, Güd Tymz Java Shots earned 3rd place in the beverage category at Rooster Magazine’s Food Fight 2022. Güd Tymz acknowledges the quality of their water compatible, truly fast-acting secret sauce and the novelty of the product designs as the keys to this recognition.
In the coming months, Güd Tymz plans to introduce additional, novel product lines.
“We enjoy bringing unique products to the edibles market. Now that we are no longer limited by lipid-based edible lines, the sky’s the limit!” says Vish. “Our goals don’t end there. We are a science company first. Relying upon Doc’s pharma experience, we hope to offer support to small edible manufacturers who want to enter the fast-acting edibles space, but may require scientific assistance during their product development.”
As a former professor, Doc’s “office hours” are open for providing guidance and support throughout the R&D process.
