What are the most saturated cannabis retail markets in the United States? According to a recent report by Verilife, a dispensary brand with operations in multiple states, Oregon, Oklahoma and Montana have the largest number of cannabis retailers per capita.
Oregon, which legalized medical marijuana in 1998, has about 16.5 dispensaries per 100,000 residents, followed by the fast-growing new market in Oklahoma, at 15.6, and the newly revamped Montana industry, at 15.1.
Colorado (14.1), Alaska (12.7), Washington (6.2), New Mexico (5.2), Nevada (2.4), Michigan (1.7) and California (1.6) round out the top 10, according to the report.
Among the most dispensary-friendly cities, Missoula, Montana leads the country with 36.2 retailers per 100,000 residents, followed by Medford, Oregon (34), Pueblo, Colorado (33.2), Eugene, Oregon (32.2) and Denver (29.8).
Verilife analyzed dispensary listing data from more than 600 cities with a population of at least 50,000 people within states with a regulated cannabis industry as of January 10, 2020.
